GRAD TEAS
=========

Gillian and Julie propose Aware Home grad tea in the 2nd week of
December.

Erika: probable other Grad tea in Nov. on the fri before Thanksgiving.

For next year, the pumpkin carving contest may be scheduled before
halloween day next year because people like to have the pumkins out on
the porch some days before halloween.

CNS
===

David Roberts

Reports on CNS scheduled downtimes times. No problem with these
downtimes. There have been some CNS protests which were already
expressed to the people in charge.

Student Funding, Slots and TA requiremetns
==========================================

Valerie: question regarding the revamping of grad students funding. TA
requirement.

Daron: TA requirement is a problem, because there might not be enough
TA posts for everybody to fulfill their requirement. TAing is a time
consuming activity and not everybody is interested.

Giovanni will ask for clarification on TA requirement issue to Ellen.

Slotting system: concern that it will be more difficult to be assigned
to professors and to enter the program without having an assigned
advisor.

Giovanni will ask about status and details (in the mean time, a public
announcement was sent about the slots system -- 11/11/05).

Women@cc
========

Valerie, Tracy: women@cc dean's reception was very good.

PICNIC
======

Tracy looking for grad students picnic sent email barbara nothing
back. Pusk back to Spring semester.

RSI
===

Jay: College bought 3-4 keyboards and 4-5 ergonomic mice which will be
made available.

HEALTH INSURANCE
================

David

Graduate student health insurance. Next year it will be mandatory to
have health insurance across the entire University System of
Georgia. There is a working group at the health center working on
this. Still working out issues with pre-existing conditions and COBRA
issues. Lower rates are negotiated, but some schools do not have
health centers that reduces rates. Will send health care rfc to
phd-list.

BUSINESS CARDS
==============

Giovanni reported about business cards. Discussion: it would be nice
if students could get them when they wanted. Or get only 100 cards per
year?

OTHER
=====

Giovanni will mail Leo Mark about problem with phd review. Issues with
mailing lists and graduate review (this should have been fixed --
11/11/05).

Giovanni reported from General Faculty Meeting of Oct. 6, including
graduate office reorg, program reorg, fund raising and financial
situation. Reported on Faculty Review dinner.
