Through this interaction we aim to see if doing physical movements in a virtual space, coupled with a peaceful environment, can help users destress. The interactor enters a mystical fairy land when suddenly he/she sees a flash of light hurling towards the ground. The flash of light injures one of the 5 fairies in the scene. The injured fairy falls down, upon being hit by the light, and can no longer fly. The other fairies in the scene ask for the interactor's strength to help them heal the injured fairy. |
GTRI partnered with Dept of Family and Children Services to develop and implement a system for case workers to discretely contact supervisors and public safety when in a home visit that is escalating and may turn potentially violent and put the caseworker in danger. |
Self-directed online learning is becoming increasingly prevalent. We describe a study on the use of an online laboratory for self-directed learning through the construction and simulation of conceptual models of ecological systems. We analyzed the modeling behaviors of 315 learners and 822 instances of learner-generated models using a sequential pattern mining technique. We found three types of learner behaviors: observation, construction, and exploration. We found that while the observation behavior was most common, exploration led to models of higher quality.
