NSF Graduate Research Traineeship in HCIThe GVU Center has been awarded an NSF grant for Graduate Research Training in Human-Computer Interaction which will provide support for 25 Ph.D. student-years of study for GVU students from the College of Computing, School of Industrial & Systems Engineering, and School of Psychology over the next five years. The review panel report cited GVU's outstanding program, genuine interdisciplinary cooperation, real commitment to minority education, and solid research base. The goal for the HCI Traineeship program is to encourage students to pursue a Ph.D. in HCI. The NSF Trainees will work closely with a faculty member in their academic unit. They will be paired with student mentors, and will participate in monthly review meetings with the Center Director. The traineeships will include all tuition and fees plus a stipend and additional support for books and research-related travel. We are currently considering potential students for traineeships during the 98/99 academic year, the final year of the grant. Traineeships will be awarded on a competitive basis. We will consider GVU students applying to College of Computing, School of Industrial & Systems Engineering, and School of Psychology, or multi-disciplinary students, whose emphasis is on Human-Computer Interaction. Interested students should mention GVU and the HCI Traineeship program in their application materials. For more information, please contact Joan Morton at 404-894-4672, or at joan@gvu.gatech.edu.
