Welcome to the Leap Frog Maze
The game below is to help you learn about 2-dimensional transformations in a fun way. The object of the game is to get the frog (green triangular object) from the start room to the finish room. Here are some things that you should be aware of:
- There are two kinds of "areas" in the maze -- rooms and corridors. Rooms are areas where the frog can rest (i.e. stop in). The corridors can only be passed through i.e. you can pass through a corridor on the way to a room, but you cannot stop in the corridor.
- A room is an area where you can perform transformations on the frog, so that the frog is in the right direction and of the right size to pass through the next corridors and rooms. Once you are in a room, if the room is a MAGIC room, it can automatically transform your frog using one of the transformations. In order to proceed, you may need to reverse this transformation.
- A corridor can have "pits" in it. This means that the frog needs to be bigger than the pit in order to pass through the corridor.
- The maze has a hints area in the bottom right corner. The details of the hints given will depend upon the "level" you are at. The level can be controlled by the radio buttons in the bottom left corner of the maze. The Introductory level will give you the most detailed hints, while the programmer level will give you very general hints. However, the programmer level will also show you the matrices for the transformations you have just performed.
- In order to find out the size of a room or a corridor (i.e. what the maximum and minimum size that that room will allow the forg to be), click and hold down the mouse in the room.
