Polygons

What is a polygon?

A polygon is a many-sided planar figure composed of verticies and edges. Triangles, squares, hexagons, and pentagons are examples of polygons that have names, but any closed series of lines segments forms a polygon.

What makes a polygon convex/concave?

A polygon is convex if for any two points P1,P2 inside the polygon, all points on the line segment which connects P1 and P2 are inside the polygon.A concave polygon is one which is not complex.

What makes a polygon complex/simple?

Hmmm....

What is the degree of a polygon?

The degree of a polygon is the number of sides it has.

What is a self-intersecting polygon?

A polygon with (at least) two edges that have an intersection other than their endpoints is self-intersecting.

What is a polyhedron?

A polyhedron is a solid that is bounded by a set of polygons whose edges are each a member of an even number of polygons (and that satisfies some additional constraints).
