HCI Master's Degree Offered
May 1997
The GVU Center at Georgia Tech has launched a professional

Interaction (HCI) Program, with an initial full
enrollment of ten students. This degree program was recently
established through a close collaboration with and among the
College of Computing; the School of Psychology; and the

theoretical understanding they need to become leaders in the
design, implementation and evaluation of the computer
interfaces of the future.
This interdisciplinary program brings together students
from diverse disciplines and provides them with a common set
of basic skills and knowledge leading to specialization
tracks in:
- interface software and usability
- cognitive psychology and methods
- multimedia design, communication theory, and
digital aesthetics
Interested students should apply to the HCI program
through the GVU Center. Admission to the program is
accomplished through one of the participating academic units,
based upon the recommendation of the multidisciplinary GVU
Committee representing all of the participating units. The

through the academic unit of residence (i.e., the student's
home department).
