Sammie

Sammie is a female retriever mix of the large and fluffy persuasion. She was born in April 1988 in Tucson Arizona. She received her BhD* near the University of Arizona in 1991, and currently has a visiting position with the Graphics, Visualization, and Usability Center in the College of Computing at Georgia Tech. Sammie served with the program committee of the 1988 SIGCHI Conference where she expressed her keen technical insight by thoughtfully shredding several papers that were in review and spreading them around the back yard (these papers were all subsequently rejected).

Research Interests

Sammie's research interests are interdisciplinary in nature and include: multimedia systems, virtual reality, and computer supported cooperative work. In addition, her recent work has considered fundamental new approaches to canine computer interaction such as sitting on her master's feet under the workstation and barking at the screen. Sammie also has a substantial background in experimental biology emphasizing the behavioral aspects of squirrels and rabbits in the presence of canine predators. Her recent research funding has been from the Milkbone division of Purina.
