Sammie
Sammie is a female retriever mix of the large and fluffy persuasion.
She was born in April 1988 in Tucson Arizona. She received her
BhD* near the
University of Arizona
in 1991, and currently has a visiting position with
the Graphics, Visualization, and Usability Center
in the
College of Computing
at Georgia Tech.
Sammie served with the program committee of the 1988
SIGCHI Conference
where she expressed her keen technical insight by thoughtfully shredding
several papers that were in review and spreading them around the back yard
(these papers were all subsequently rejected).
Research Interests
Sammie's research interests are interdisciplinary in nature and include:
multimedia systems, virtual reality, and computer supported cooperative work.
In addition, her recent work has considered
fundamental new approaches to canine computer interaction such as sitting on her
master's feet under the workstation and barking at the screen.
Sammie also has a substantial
background in experimental biology emphasizing the behavioral aspects of squirrels
and rabbits in the presence of canine predators.
Her recent research funding has been from the Milkbone division of Purina.
