Background
I received my B.S. in Engineering and my B.A. in Psychology from the
University of Michigan in 1991, studying under David Kieras. I am
currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology and an M.S. in Computer Science,
expected completion Spring of 1996 and 1995, respectively. After that, I
hope to get a faculty appointment at a research university (though I do enjoy
teaching as well). I am currently affiliated with both the Cognitive
Science program and the GVU Center here at Georgia Tech.
Research Interests
I am interested in a wide variety of areas in human cognition. My
dissertation will focus on a computational theory of working memory
similar to CAPS but informed and inspired by work on basic processing
speed, such as that of Salthouse and Kyllonen. I am particularly
interested in modeling systematic human error and the use of external
memory aids.
I am also generally interested in cognitive architectures such as ACT-R
and Soar, human-computer interaction, statistical methodology,
judgment/decision-making, and ecological psychology/situated action.
Publications
I have a number of papers as well as my
vita
available for anonymous FTP. These files are all in PostScript format,
and some of the larger ones have been compressed so they have the .Z
extension. Here's the list:
