TALK: Abstract GVU brownbag TITLE: Primatech: Models and Future Directions AUTHORS: Jim Davies, Tim Keenan, Wasinee Rungsarityotin, Irfan Essa The aim of the Primatech project is to create an installation that simulates communicating with an orangutan that can use sign language. This talk will focus on the work done on the graphic and cognitive modeling. Three cognitive models were created in the ACT-R modeling architecture. The third, and most advanced, a simple grammar was implemented. The system could parse simple sentences and verify whether the input statement is true based on facts stored in memory. The animated graphic model now can demonstrate a few signs. Future work in the cognitive and graphic areas are discussed.
