Games with a purpose (GWAPs) have proven to be effective solutions to solving difficult problems, labeling data, and collecting commonsense knowledge. Unlike traditional games, GWAPs must balance between acquiring accurate solutions or data and maintaining player engagement. However, when it comes to designing GWAPs, the effects of different game mechanics on accuracy and engagement are not well understood. We have conducted two studies to understand the way different choices of game mechanics and their affect on player behavior. |
We aim to contribute to a more thorough understanding of VR systems in educational environments, supporting its adoption and offering a more solid foundation for future research on the educational applications of VR. |
Heads-Up is a Google Glass prototype that functions as a translucent second screen over the television while re-watching a favorite show. Our demo will focus on HBO's highly acclaimed series, Game of Thrones. The intention of the design is to allow the user to continue viewing the TV screen while receiving synchronized commentary through Google Glass rather than be distracted away from the screen by a computer, phone, or tablet. |
