GVU Research Showcase Spring 2022

Featured Projects

Recently featured in Georgia County Government magazine, the SayWhyPoll mobile app enables elected officials, civic leaders, and media producers to engage with constituents and audiences either remotely or face-to-face using surveys that tightly couple close-ended survey items with rich media, such as video. The SayWhyPoll is designed to increase opportunities for public debate on civic issues, but is also suitable for pure entertainment topics, such as sports and lifestyle.
How can living materials be combined with digital technologies? This project draws from scholarship in ecofeminism and consists of living wildflowers growing inside a plexiglass box.he memorial may seem closed and bounded, but is, in fact, an open system, necessitating porosity and exchange with the outside and care from humans in order to thrive.
The goal of this NASA funded project is to conduct human computer interaction experiments to study how the diminishment of irrelevant visual and auditory information, via Augmented Reality, in a high stress environment can help a user focus more effectively on task performance. Specifically we are studying methods of diminishing and enhancing reality for crew members on the International Space Station that could help them perform complex medical tasks in high stress emergency situations.
