GVU Research Showcase Spring 2022

Featured Projects

The algorithmic detection of subcultural or niche taste trends is of growing importance in targeted advertising. This demonstration presents research using online music analysis tools from Spotify, Musicbrainz, and Rovi coupled with aggregated music listening behavior from Facebook users to detect individual tastes and emerging taste trends amongst social groups. This research is presented alongside historical signifiers of music taste such as fashion, music collections, and subcultural knowledge.
This is an industry sponsored project for Netflix in the MS-HCI project lab. The scope of the project is to explore the entertainment needs of Gen Z and re-imagine the Netflix experience to address these needs.
Exposure is an interactive VR experience that explores the events happening at the beginning of the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. You are a photographer in 1969 who is told by your boss to cover the events happening at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, NY. However, there are police patrolling the area to prevent the media from reporting on the event. Sneak past the police and get your shot!
