Defining the New Face of Computing

At the College of Computing at Georgia Tech, we're creating the social and scientific computing breakthroughs that are revolutionizing life in the real-world. Academics

The College of computing at Georgia Tech is a national leader in the research and creation of real-world computing breakthroughs that drive social and scientific progress. With its graduate program ranked 9th nationally by U.S. News and World Report, the College's unconventional approach to education is pioneering the new era of computing by expanding the horizons of traditional computer science students through interdisciplinary collaboration and a focus on human centered solutions.

Students

Our students are immersed in the right mix of science, engineering, and application, and are gaining the skills to contribute beyond the boundaries of traditional computer science. The lifeblood of the College, students here are challenged every day to drive future innovation through interdisciplinary collaborations and a focus on human centered solutions.

Faculty

College of Computing faculty are among the best in the world and renowned for their expertise in a multitude of research areas. Our faculty explore the applications of computing throughout many disciplines and go well beyond traditional computer science into areas like graphics, visualization, human-computer interaction, learning science, intelligent systems, information security, media computation, DNA and nano-computing, high-performance and enterprise computing, and networking. The College of Computing nurtures and rewards collaborative partnerships, so our students and faculty influence and are influenced by other disciplines every day.

Research

Rather than an internally focused research environment, the College of Computing engages in cross campus, multidisciplinary partnerships that significantly increase opportunities for true innovation in a range of fields: music, science, art, engineering, or health for example. Our depth of expertise and celebrated research centers allow graduates to gain broad skill sets that can be applied to any industry and complement any professional interest. By blending research with education in a variety of disciplines,the College is leading this interdisciplinary effort in order to meet the challenges of the future.

Working with Industry

The College of Computing is proactive in its interaction with the business community. Through the Industrial Partners Association (IPA), we explore a myriad of possibilities to forge mutually beneficial and long-term relationships. As you will discover, our vision offers unique opportunities for research and collaboration. Our new state-of-the-art facilities in Technology Square and the Klaus Advanced Computing building will add still another dimension to the College. It's an exciting time to be at Georgia Tech and we welcome you to the new era of computing.
