The East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes (EAPSI) goals are to introduce U.S. graduate students to East Asia and Pacific science and engineering in the context of a research setting, and to help students initiate scientific relationships that will better enable future collaboration with foreign counterparts. Selected students participate in research experiences at host laboratories in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, or Taiwan.

Students must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident in order to apply.

NanoJapan: International Research Experience for Undergraduates program seeks to cultivate a generation of globally competent scientists and engineers with the technical research skills needed to prepare them for a successful graduate study in a field related to nanotechnology. The program is sponsored by a National Science Foundation Partnerships for International Research & Education (NSF-PIRE) grant and received the 2008 IIE Heiskell Award as a Best Practice in Study Abroad. The summer research internship program includes a three-week Japanese language and culture orientation held in Tokyo followed by a nine-week research internship at a leading nanotechnology laboratory in Japan. Students will complete a research project focused on the study of nanoscale semiconductor devices, nanophotonics, and carbon nanotubes.

The Pasona Internship Program is a non-profit organization which allows outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to participate in a two month internship at a Japanese company. The internship provides the student with valuable opportunities to learn Japanese business practices and to receive on-the-job-training. Companies that students have worked for in the past include: Panasonic, Mitsubishi Research Institute, Hitachi as well as a variety of other smaller firms and research institutes. Participants receive a stipend, free accommodations, round-trip airfare, and work-related travel expenses. Conversational Japanese is required. Fluency in Japanese is highly desirable.

This program provides students with an opportunity to complete paid, professional internships, improve German language skills, and experience German culture firsthand from June through August 2010. Internships are available in a variety of professional fields, including, but not limited to business, marketing/ PR, IT, engineering, international relations, social sciences and economics. The program will begin in Germany in late May with a 2-day introductory seminar. All participants must have at least two years of college German. Please also keep in mind that while this is a scholarship program and basic living expenses, such as housing, local transportation, and food are covered, you will most likely need additional funds to travel on weekends and for incidentals.

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

U.S. citizens and/or permanent residents of the U.S.
Minimum of 2 years college study in one of the following fields: Business, Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical), IT, Logistics, Internet, Multimedia, Graphic Design, Architecture, Environment, Biosciences, International Relations, History, Social Sciences, Economics
Student must have completed at least 2 years of college German by Summer 2010
Evidence of outstanding and professional and academic achievement as evidenced by letters of recommendation from a professor or academic advisor AND from a current or former employer

The Taylor Lab in the Biology and Math and Computer Science departments at Emory University is looking for ambitious individuals to fill multiple software engineering positions working on the Galaxy project. Galaxy (http://www.usegalaxy.org) is a software framework that (a) enables researchers to store, analyze, visualize and share genomic data and (b) provides genomic tool developers with the ability to deploy their tools within a complete analysis framework. Thousands of researchers worldwide use Galaxy on a daily basis. Galaxy is an open source project committed to the openness of scientific enterprise and is free for all.

We are currently seeking engineers with experience in (i) distributed computing and systems programming or (ii) usability and visualization, however candidates with other relevant experience will also be considered. Successful candidates will initially focus on making next generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis more widely reliable and accessible as well as participate in the development of bioinformatic tools in application areas such as re-sequencing, de novo assembly, metagenomics, transcriptome analysis and epigenetics.

I am looking to hire a student that can build a solid website for my business. This website is for a motivational speaker and trainer who specializes in HR training; i.e customer service development, diversity, employee empowerment, corporate ethics, etc. I don't need a lot of heavy hype, the site should be more corporate than edgy.

Here are some of my requirements:

The website should allow me to post a calendar of events that can be updated weekly.
The website should allow some type of "streaming videos." (Testamonials, snips of previous sessions, etc.)
The website should include a Paypal or other type of payment feature.

I can be flexible with the student's class schedule and will pay a fair rate. Also, I would like to see other websites they've done in the past that fit my ideas.
