Title: Associate Developer 

Summary:  Responsible for Level 3 development escalations for the software, applications, and systems associated with Loyalty technologies such as IHG Rewards Club. Research & troubleshoot Java application, network and database issues.  Automate the Loyalty software deployment process and improve application and service monitoring.

o Bachelors degree in computer science or relevant field required. 
o Entry level candidates welcome. Strong academic experience will be considered an acceptable substitute for lack of years of professional experience 

Skills and Competencies: 
o Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills 
o Ability to work independently and manage one’s time 
o Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue 
o Troubleshooting Java code in a Linux server environment 
o Experience digging through/working with logs to solve problems 
o An understanding of how Java Builds for new deployments work 
o Experience with databases (Oracle in particular) 
o Technical skills: 

Top 3 “Must Haves” are experience with Linux O/S, Java programming, and experience with databases (Oracle, SQL, ertc.)


Preferred/Desired Skill Specifics:
- Linux (Redhat/Ubuntu/Fedora) 

- Scripting experience (ex: Perl, bash )
- Java 
- Java troubleshooting/performance optimization - knowledge how to take stack trace and thread dump, and interpreting them 

- Database - Oracle, SQL

-  Java app servers -  OSGI, JSW, desired
- JMS, desired
- ActiveMQ/IBM MQ, desired 
-  Experience with virtualization/KVM/VMWare desired

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: 
o Working with and improving the monitoring system to track webservice/application performance and health 
o Troubleshooting Java code in a Linux server environment 
o Upkeep of the UI training environment 
o Coordinate/automate installation of software system and assist in weekly deployments (after hours/on call)

o On call, 24/7 support for Loyalty systems
o Perform other duties as assigned
