Job Summary:

The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, building, testing, and deploying effective test automation solutions. This includes: designing, implementing, and maintaining a test automation framework. The Test Automation Engineer will also assist with defining test automation strategy, researching new technologies, and training/mentoring other SQA Engineers. A high degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Design, build, and maintain effective test automation solutions (Smoke, Functional, Regression, etc.)
  • Evaluate tools and training that support test automation efforts
  • Maintain the technical test environment
  • Work closely with project team(s)to design and implement solid automation test coverage
  • Analyze and report on test automation maintenance
  • Maintain subject matter knowledge on the product and related technologies
  • Research new scripting technologies and procedures
  • Automate test cases using testing tools and scripting tools (TestComplete, Jscript, VBscript, etc.)
  • Work  closely with QA team to create and maintain automated test scripts
  • Build repeatable test sets/harnesses that demonstrate proper functionality
  • Document test results, generate test reports, and manage defects in a defect database
  • Provide timely and accurate estimates for assigned tasks.  Accurately track and report progress and weekly status
  • Perform automation test plan and participate in script code reviews
  • Maintain automated test scripts
  • Take on special automation projects (setting up servers, writing automation test cases, research, etc.)
  • Travel as required

Education and/or Experience:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Test Automation or equivalent development experience
  • Microsoft Operating System experience is necessary
  • Experience and understanding of object oriented programming
  • Scripting experience using one or more of the following: VBScript, DelphiScript, JScript, C++Script or C#Script or development experience in C#, Visual Basic, or C++
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining test plans and test cases
  • Knowledge and experience with test automation and testing tools
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess knowledge of hardware and software environments
  • Protocol expertise to include: TCP/IP, LDAP, SNMP, HTTP, SSL, etc.
  • Solid understanding of Windows networking and administration
  • Problem solver that can work both independently and as a member of a team
