Qualifications:

Looking for a knowledgeable and experienced programmer to work on a project basis for technology company creating equipment for Christian missions.

Project:

We need to create a Bluetooth marketing application for the Linux operating system.  The application should utilize Bluetooth technology (OPP and FTP protocols) to “push” files contained in a specific folder on the Linux machine to any Bluetooth-enabled mobile device located nearby.  There is already  open-source software available for Linux called OBEXftp which provides a CLI for pushing individual files to Bluetooth devices.  It is possible that this application can be built to utilize OBEXftp, or it can be an expansion of OBEXftp.

Some of the functional requirements include: (1) the application is automated and runs as a background service or daemon, (2) it pushes multiple files sequentially, (3) capability to push the same file to 4 devices simultaneously, (4) it remembers which devices have already received the file and which have rejected it, (5) it records # of successful pushes and the devices they’ve been pushed to, (6) it should be compatible with the most cell phones and tablets possible, and (6) the application should be streamlined and efficient, not using excessive system resources.

Interested applicants may request a full list of functional requirements and further details about the full scope of the project.

The successful applicant will have expert level familiarity with multiple distributions of the Linux operating system.  He or she will also have familiarity with the Bluetooth protocol stack and be able to provide a portfolio of completed software applications which demonstrate knowledge and experience necessary to complete this project.
