Monsanto, a leader in Agricultural Technology, has an opportunity available for a Business Process Engineer on our Research & Development IT Team. This person in this role will leverage their technical expertise to play a key role in defining and delivering breakthrough science in high throughput R&D platforms for Monsanto.


Responsibilities include:

  • Translation, design and optimization of process flows and analytical solutions implemented in software systems used by our R&D organizations
  • Model and implement complex scientific R&D workflows in a Business Process Management Suite (BPMS) of tools
  • Translate and effectively communicate these complex concepts to a broad audience
  • Work in a liaison relationship with our multi-functional, multi-crop Technology organization, our research labs, interdisciplinary scientists internal and external to Monsanto, and our information technology organization
  • Partner with the R&D organizations to understand the business drivers to ensure workflow solutions deliver expected value
  • Interact with various levels within Information Technology, including senior management to effectively communicate vision & direction




Required skills/experience:

  • BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent in discipline
  • 7+ years of experience with diagnosing, modeling, and developing complex business processes using BPM methodologies
  • Experience with developing software to enable performance measures to monitor progress toward business strategies and objectives
  • Ability to strategically optimize business processes using process improvement & engineering methodologies
  • Ability to coach other team members in discovering, modeling, and implementing business process models


Desired skills/experience:

  • Experience with developing strategic goals, vision, priorities, and long-range plans
  • Experience in developing business processes using the IBM BPM (Lombardi) middleware (2+ years of experience)
  • Experience with Business Rules Management (BRM) toolset (specifically IBM iLOG jRules suite or IBM Operational Decision Management (ODM)) and integrating those rule sets into the BPM process
  • Experience calling SOAP based web services from IBM BPM
  • Experience in building complex, automated system services in IBM BPM
  • Experience building complex user interfaces in IBM BPM (including coaches and/or custom JSPs)
  • Experience at developing multi-tier applications
  • Experience with Object-Oriented methodologies
  • Experience in the SCRUM development methodology
