We are seeking an individual with these core qualities for the Technology Pipeline Solutions (TPS) team within IT. The TPS team works directly with Monsanto scientists to develop software platforms that enable cutting-edge research and development (R&D) to revolutionize plant breeding and biotechnology. The responsibilities of this position are design and optimization of process flows and development of analytical solutions implemented in software systems used by our R&D organizations. The successful candidate must be able to model and implement complex scientific R&D workflows in a Business Process Management Suite of tools and develop analytical models to optimize these business processes. It involves design and testing of algorithms and conduct prototyping to evaluate possible scenarios leveraging computational, statistical and operations research techniques for the development of novel solutions to accelerate or improve product development. The candidate will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary scientists internal and external to Monsanto to address the emerging changes in analytical scientific breakthroughs. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to successfully partner with the R&D organizations to understand the business drivers to ensure solutions deliver expected value.  In addition, the candidate must interact with various levels within Information Technology, including senior management to effectively communicate vision & direction. 

Required Skills:

·         PhD or PhD completion in the next 6 months in Computer Science, Industrial engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.

  • Experience in mathematical optimization and algorithm development related to process improvement

·         Experience with  software development and architecture related to operations research or AI

·         Experience with object oriented programming (C/C++, Java)

  • Experience analyzing and presenting complex data and proven problem solving abilities

·         Ability to strategically optimize business processes using process improvement & engineering methodologies

·         Ability to effectively lead and drive change in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment, leading & influencing people at varying levels of responsibility. 
  • Ability to work independently and establish necessary internal and external collaborations

·         Strong publication record in leading scientific journals

·         Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills as well as proven problem solving abilities

 

 

Desired Skills:

·          Experience in developing business processes using the IBM BPM (Lombardi) middleware

·         Experience in developing and solving network flow problems for planning, scheduling, and space utilization

·         Experience with optimization software (i.e. CPLEX)

·         Experience with statistical modeling and data mining

·         Drive for translating business problems into research initiatives that deliver business value

·         Creativity in defining challenging exploratory projects
