Chief Software Engineer
Better Weekdays is a startup in heart of Chicago’s entrepreneurial community, 1871. Our small team is dynamic, hard-working, and committed to our vision of helping individuals make better career decisions and helping HR leaders hire quality talent at half the cost.
Better Weekdays’ platform leverages the power of Big Data to support our matching engine, MatchRank. We’re looking for someone to play a critical role on the Better Weekdays technology team to lead all development efforts from back-end to front-end.
You will be leveraging your skills and expertise to…
Develop a platform that matches job seekers with the most relevant opportunities leveraging big data and graph technologies
Ensure that the system is built to focus on hiring quality candidates at lower costs by developing optimized search and matching algorithms to present employers with the most relevant job seekers
Work with our front-end development team to build out the user experience for both the job seeker and employers
Integrate features and data feeds of various third-party applications through their APIs
Develop ATS integrations to connect with employers' current recruiting applications
Make core technology decisions after understanding the short term and long term business objectives
5+ years of experience developing, maintaining Web applications for large consumer and enterprise environments
Significant programming experience in PHP and large-scale database architecting experience, both for traditional relational databases (MySQL) and non-relational graph systems (Neo4J)
Experience with web server management (NGINX)
Cloud server management experience with Amazon’s EC2
Experience working in a Linux environment
Experience with Git
Knowledge of Web 2.0 and cutting edge Open Source technologies
