AECOM’s Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions — International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. GSS supports the U.S. Government, non-U.S. Governments and industry clients with worldwide program management, planning, design, operations and maintenance, logistics, aviation services, security, international development, environmental and civil engineering and mission and intelligence support.
AECOM – Global Support Services (GSS) is seeking to immediately interview and hire outstanding Mandarin Chinese linguists/computer engineers to support AECOM –Global Support Services.  Each qualifying candidate chosen will become a direct hire with AECOM – GSS and will be provided full benefits and opportunity for advancement, after applicable time.  The specific language positions available will be located in the Northern Virginia area of which will require near-native to native level Mandarin; passing on the ILR scale between 3+ and 5.  Each linguist will become translators for research, translation, and summarization.  The primary duties will include internet research web-scraping, and data management in English and Chinese, translation of articles, summarization of key points, and report creation. Successful candidates will work with other Chinese linguists on designing and developing social media data extraction and analysis tools, facilitating Chinese language, for analysts and linguists to generate reports and statistics. Familiarity with current Chinese political, social, economic, and cultural developments is required. Training will be provided. No deployment required. No clearance required.

Minimum Requirements 
• Must be of US Citizenship to support a US Government Contract.
• Must be fluent in near - Native or Native Chinese.
• Must be fluent in near - Native or Native English and have strong ability in written English composition.
• Must possess strong cultural knowledge and very capable and knowledgeable in Microsoft Applications and Internet research.
• Must have knowledge and experience in computational linguistics; C/C++ or Java, HTML, JavaScript or Python programming
• Must possess data extraction and text mining expertise
• Must be familiar with Hadoop, SQL, Oracle, and other modern database platforms
• Must be familiar with KAPOW, data mining/machine learning, search technology, and web services

• Must have the ability to accurately translate a wide variety of complex texts from the Chinese into English, including economic and technical data..
• In terms of Jisting/summarizing: Each Linguist must be able to identify and flawlessly summarize all pertinent factual information and abstract concepts, recognizing the significance of complex expressions, such as technical terminologies.
• Must have the ability to triage documentation to isolate full-range of information that is of importance to the task at hand.
• Must have the ability to review audio material and write/transcribe information into Chinese to Language with a high-degree of accuracy and expression AND have an excellent understanding of one or more regional dialects.
• Must be able to understand and interpret virtually all levels of spoken Chinese, including complex or highly idiomatic speech with a very high degree of accuracy.

Degree in or related to Computer Engineering or Computer Science preferred

Academic study or Chinese-area studies or experience in or familiarity with Chinese economic, political, and social affairs preferred.

Ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance is desirable for this position but not required.
