I am currently working in the venture capital & private equity industry in NYC. I have spent the last year developing an enterprise focused business, am getting close to beta testing and looking for a technical partner/lead developer.

Need to have a strong background in Ruby on Rails, strong work ethic and willingness to get things done. My prior developer took a big job out in San Francisco. I would be able to pay strong cash and equity compensation.

The concept is simple - people spend the majority of their lives working and know that building their relationships is key to a successful career. You might have someone as a connection on LinkedIn or know a potential customer at a company, but developing these relationships is difficult and a big time sink.

With the rapid adoption of LinkedIn and CRM systems, its now possible to combine real-time business updates, marketplace technology, and existing contact systems to help people easily send thoughtful gifts. So if someone gets promoted, changes jobs, hits a 3/5/10 year milestone at their company, you closed a deal, you get a business referral, a client has a baby, it's administration professionals day, small business Saturday, we help you easily act on these events.


To solve this need, we help people connect to a marketplace of specialty retailers and small batch wineries, while providing high-end ecards and access their existing contacts from LinkedIn or their CRM system. The site also has a dashboard feed of Calendar events, LinkedIn updates and CRM leads/deal closings so you never forget an important event for people in your network.

 

Our business model allows us to hold minimal (if any inventory) and receive 25-45% margins on products sold.

2 - use Stripe & Spree for marketplace setup - stripe already has this functionality built in

Current Status and Next Steps of Project:

1) We are beyond the initial "figuring things out phase". The business operations and initial designs are setup.

- All the initial UX has been through many interations

- Design Team Setup: high quality designer on the site (example design: http://theootdapp.com/), professional graphic designers working on the ecards (attached) and professional photographer

- Small batch winery with alcohol distribution setup (10 wineries on board; 170 through distributor); Chocolate stores and baby clothing stores setup (will need to add more)

- Top Sommelier in the country doing wine curation (owns a 2-star michelin restaurant in SF)

- Adding layers of curators and filtered marketplace of suppliers

- Spent a lot of time figuring out to make this a scalable business by focusing on what we can do well (technology, ecards, payments) while letting the stores do product management and fulfillment

- Revenue producing business that can make money -- 25-40% margins

 

2) Driving Early Adoption and Milestones to See Growth

- Have dozens of senior sales professionals across different enterprise companies (salesforce, facebook, etc.) ready to test the product

- Building initial user base: Will get initial cross promotion from CRM systems (i.e. Highrise, CapsuleCRM, BaseCRM), Industry Tech Focused blogs, have friends in PR to make intros

- Get press from multiple avenues - curators, systems we integrate with and stores that see us as their avenue for business gifting and will promote through our site

- Have numerous NYC entrepreneurs helping with the business and making intros

 

3) Next Steps for Growth

- Build out an API that allows CRM systems, Help desk software and any other online business to monetize their user base with a new revenue stream; would be able to connect to our platform of ecards and marketplace of products; Will give us a large swath of users from an installed base
