Qualifications: Developer I Job Summary: Develop database-centric web applications across the business, both for internal users and external customers. Essential Functions: • Develop and modify web applications with ASP.NET and other advanced web languages. Develop database solutions with MS SQL Server. Develop Windows applications & services with .NET. • Confer with other developers to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. • Modify existing software and web applications to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance. • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. • Investigate software problems & questions for users, and outline specifications for resolution or improvement to other developers. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Team member-level experience with development projects requiring accomplishment of project tasks within project scope and timeframes. • Entry-level knowledge of object-oriented programming, databases, and web technologies. • Specific experience in .NET, SQL Server, ASP.NET a plus. • Proven experience in tackling complex technical challenges and learning new technical skills quickly. A capacity for self-teaching is a must. • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team and collaborate/provide service to end users. • Willingness to perform occasional weekend and off shift work required. • Must have an understanding and commitment to the values and mission of Better World Books. • Typical office equipment: desktop, laptop, PDAs, cellular,telephone, fax.
