The School of Math at Georgia Tech is looking for student employees to assist with hardware and software maintenance on a heterogeneous network consisting of primarily Linux, but including Windows and OS X. General computer experience is required, additional experience on Linux and/or OS X is a plus. Individuals must be enrolled at Georgia Tech but may be taking a semester without classes.
The job entails user support, diagnosing hardware, software, and network problems, configuring, installing and maintaining laptops, workstations, printers and servers. Generally, whatever is necessary to keep people up and running. We build and maintain desktop PCs, so some hardware background is of interest. The most important quality is a willingness to learn. If actively enrolled in classes, the level of commitment would be 10-20 hours per week. If not, part-time or full time commitments are available. Work times are somewhat flexible (business hours needed, no nights or weekends) and the individual must be reliable. Hourly rates are competitive. Work environment is relaxed.
