UI Architect/Developer
Better Weekdays
Role
The UI Architect/Developer leads the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the user interface tier for the Better Weekdays technical architecture. The UI Architect/Developer will also manage the efforts of UI developers, UX designers, digital graphics designers, and other technical resources as required by the Better Weekdays product roadmap. The UI Architect/Developer will collaborate with the Better Weekdays enterprise architect to manage the interface between the user interface tier and the server-side application tier.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of all technology components related to the Better Weekdays user interface architecture tier
- Manage the ongoing maintenance of the Better Weekdays user interface by resolving system defects and implementing feature enhancements as prioritized by Better Weekdays management
- Lead the co-design effort of the client-server API in collaboration with the Better Weekdays enterprise architect
- Recruit, direct, and mentor UI developers and other client-side technical resources as deemed necessary in collaboration with Better Weekdays management
- Regularly communicate progress reports to senior staff on the technology team
- Escalate all issues in a timely manner that have a potential impact on the Better Weekdays product roadmap or other aspects of the Better Weekdays business
- Participate in all ongoing product roadmap strategy discussions
Qualifications
- Degree in computer science or related degree preferred
- 5+ years’ experience across all aspects of the application development lifecycle
- Expertise and proven ability in developing and debugging scalable web applications using JavaScript
- Expertise and proven ability in detecting and mitigating JavaScript-driven memory leaks
- Expertise and proven ability in applying jQuery in the implementation of dynamic user interfaces
- Expertise and proven ability in using HTML/CSS, HAML/SCSS/Sass to implement web interfaces
- Expertise and proven ability in leveraging Backbone.js. Spine.js or other related MVC frameworks in the implementation of dynamic, database-driven web applications
- Expertise using CoffeeScript
- Familiarity with Jasmine or other related front-end unit testing frameworks
- Expert knowledge in the application of Agile or other related software development methodologies
- Expertise using GitHub, SVN, or other similar software configuration management platforms
- Expertise and proven ability in designing and executing QA strategies that minimize post-deployment defects and ensure performance and scalability requirements, as defined by Better Weekdays management, are met
- Familiarity with MySQL (version 5.0 or later)
- Familiarity with object oriented design patterns
- Proven ability to thrive and consistently exhibit self-directed initiative in a dynamic, virtual work environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
