Interested in a research project designing and developing a healthcare software? A joint research group at Georgia Tech/Emory University/Atlanta VA Medical Center is looking for undergraduates to help design, develop, and evaluate a decision support tool for healthcare providers and patients to use in the treatment of Type II Diabetes. Students will be involved with improving an algorithm that helps doctors prescribe medications, creating a desktop and mobile software, and assessing the clinical significance of the technology.
Students will work in a small team to design new enhancements, develop features, and test an existing software that is currently being used to treat Type II diabetes at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. They are expected to work with each other on all tasks, provide updates in regular meetings throughout the week, and post updates on our discussion forums. The students will also receive formal training on design and coding practices and insight into healthcare IT throughout the semester in the form of weekly lectures. Most meetings will occur at Georgia Tech, though there may be some travel required to Emory University and the Atlanta VA Medical Center.

- Must be ready to commit at least 10+ hrs/week starting in Fall 2013
- Bonus: existing knowledge and experience with PHP and MySQL
