Citi Retail Services – VP, Customer Analytics


 Critical areas of focus 

Develop data-driven strategies to drive portfolio improvements and enhance business and The Home Depot profitability. Key responsibilities include developing knowledge of business/functional strategies, designing approaches to mine various data sources using advanced technical and statistical competencies, translating results into business opportunities, and working cross-functionally to drive change. Strong technical and Project Management skills, communication (written and oral), relationship building (across all levels) and influencing skills critical to success. Experience with credit and Retail relationships strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities 

·        Proactively identify and execute new analytic initiatives to drive sales, increase revenue, decrease

         costs, improve operations and increase profitability. Translate insights into financially viable marketing


·        Perform advanced marketing and portfolio data analysis, design marketing programs, and formulate

         recommendations to senior management regarding marketing strategies for the Retail and Private Label

         Credit Card portfolio.

·        Interface with multiple levels with THD and Citi; lead the design of data driven analytic solutions

·        Lead/work cross-functional business solution project teams.

·        Pull, synthesize and manipulate large data sets using UNIX, SAS, SQL, Visual Basic, Cognos,

         Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access, translating technical data into business terms.

·        Build statistical models and interpret market trends utilizing knowledge of First Data Resources (FDR)

         Credit Card Data (definitions and derivations), Credit Bureau attributes, Acxiom, Dunn & Bradstreet

         demographics and firmographics.

·        Design and execute pilot marketing programs to empirically test new business concepts.

·        Partner with internal and external business leaders to identify business opportunities utilizing financial

         metrics including Net Present Value, Payback Period, and Return on Total Assets.

·        Perform ad-hoc analysis to provide customized comprehensive statistical and cross-functional

         analytical information to facilitate business decision-making.

·        Craft presentation decks and presenting results to clients.

·        Develop relationships across the Retail Services organization to leverage and share best practices

·         Functional Business Directors/Managers - Decision Management, Consumer P&L, Commercial P&L and Business Development, Marketing, Field Sales, Finance, Risk and Operations.

·         THD Partner - Marketing, Finance and Field Sales

·         Retail Services Management Team

·         Retail Services COE's (e.g., Finance, Decision Management, Risk, Business Services, Legal)



Business and Technical Requirements

·         Bachelor's degree (MIS, Math, Statistics, Business/Marketing).  MBA a plus.

·         10+ years business experience desired; 4+ in related field (customer analysis, database marketing, risk, financial/operational reporting and/or data analytics)

·         Strong working knowledge of SAS (including but not limited to Base SAS, SAS Macro Language, SAS/STAT, ODS, Enterprise Miner).

·         Experience working with large data files (20+ MM record files)

·         Proficient in Power Point and Excel (pivot tables and graphing; experience using Excel macros and/or Visual Basic in Excel is a plus).

·         Working knowledge of SQL, Cognos (Query Studio, Report Studio), and UNIX (scheduling, scripting, automation) are a plus but not required.  Experience with SPSS, JAVA, C++ or other significant programming languages is also a plus

·         Strong Project Management, written and oral communication skills

·         Experience working in a consulting environment ~ demonstrated ability in developing Business cases

·         Experience with statistics/modeling and market analysis in a business environment is desirable

·         Prior financial services experience

·         Relationship Management
