2.0 Ongoing Research & Development

  • ISVis
  • ISVis was released for Beta evaluation to Lewis Johnson at ISI, to Greg Johnson at Northrop-Grumman, and to the Fraunhofer Institute of Experimental Software Engineering in Germany. ISVis was presented at the Seattle EDCS annual presentation.

  • ScenICView Prototype
  • A prototype for ScenICView was built as a class project. The prototype was capable of analysing a textual scenario using a natural language parser and constructing actor-action lists.

  • Architecture Tools
  • We are defining a suite of tools for visualizing, maintaining, and reasoning about architectural information. SAAMTool is one of these tools.

  • ACME Interoperation
  • We have demonstrated ACME interoperation with prototypes of SAAMTool and SIRRINE.

  • SIRRINE
  • Planning for the second version of the SIRRINE prototype has begun.

  • MORPH
  • Development of the MORPH tool suite and process continues.

3.0 Notable Accomplishments & Technology Transition

MORALE project participation in the EDCS Seattle presentation and workshop.

4.0 Progress on Inter/Intra Cluster Collaboration

  • SBF - ZD Integration
  • Joint work is underway with Organon Motives and Knowledge Evolution to integrate the ZD and SBF representation languages.

  • Tool Evaluation Template
  • HTML pages and CGI scripts have been prepared and published that provide a medium for communicating tool evaluations between EDCS Rational Capture Cluster participant projects.

  • Case Study
  • We have had several telephone discussions with Dick Creps of Lockheed Martin about the possibility of performing a MORALE case study on one of their projects.

    5.0 Publications

  • Gregory Abowd, Ashok Goel, Dean F. Jerding, Michael McCracken, Melody Moore, J. William Murdock, Colin Potts, Spencer Rugaber, and Linda Wills. "MORALE--Mission Oriented Architectural Legacy Evolution." Proceedings International Conference on Software Maintenance'97, Bari, Italy, September 29-October 3, 1997.
  • 6.0 Travel

  • Rugaber and Waters attended the Seattle EDCS presentations and workshop.
  • Rugaber attended the International Conference on Software Maintenance and presented the paper listed above.
  • Abowd attended an NSF Interactive Systems workshop in Portland on August 17-18.
  • 7.0 Miscellaneous/Administrative/Problematic Issues

8.0 Plans For The Next Reporting Period

  • Most of our energy for the forseeable future will be spent on tool design and development.
  • We will also try to firm up plans for a case study.
