Assistance with Threads Selection and CS/CM Career Preparation

The Intentional Advising Program is designed to assist students in Threads selection and CS/CM career preparation. The program offers a Spring seminar and/or individual sessions with your CS/CM Intentional Advisor (IA), ecollums [at] cc [dot] gatech [dot] edu (Beth Collums). Individual sessions begin with a discovery meeting during which you and your IA design a customized program to support you. Sessions also include a Threads personality assessment, CS/CM career path design and career development coaching- all structured to provide tools, perspectives, exercises and experiences you need to climb higher at GT and after!

 
Math-Computing Double-Major Wins Coveted Goldwater

Gautam Goel is a yellow jacket through and through. He began Tech as a camper in middle school and now wants to pursue a doctorate in mathematics. A double-major in applied mathematics and computer science in the Colleges of Sciences and Computing respectively, his interests include probabilistic models of mathematical physics and the theory of algorithms.

From her high school bedroom in Memphis, Tenn., Joy Buolamwini realized she could change the world with technology as she created a website for the Ethiopian Embassy in the Ivory Coast. This was one of the first times, but certainly not the last, that her computing skills would have a global effect. 
Georgia Tech Student Receives Astronaut Scholarship

The very first Space Shuttle pilot, Robert Crippen, will present Georgia Tech Junior Joy Buolamwini with a $10,000 scholarship from the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) during a public presentation and ceremony, Friday, September 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the Klaus Advanced Computing Building, Georgia Tech Campus.

The award ceremony will coincide with a presentation by Crippen, a four flight veteran, who has logged more than 565 hours in space, orbited the earth 374 times and traveled more than 9.4 million miles. The lecture is free and open to the public.

SAB Trivia Night a Fun Way to Meet, Interact

Every month, Student Activities Board (SAB) hosts a night of trivia, open to all Georgia Tech students but focused on students of the College of Computing.  Teams are made upon arrival, which gives students the opportunity to meet and work with people they do not know. Trivia Night is a great way to meet fellow students in a casual, relaxed environment.
M@CC Study Sessions Focus on Group Learning

Every Thursday night, Minorities at the College of Computing (M@CC) hosts a study session dedicated to the academic support of their members. Consistently ranging from 10 to 20 members a week, M@CC study sessions encourage academic improvement, fellowship and friendship.  Members from all undergraduate years, as well as graduate students, attend.
