Constantine Dovrolis Receives Research Grant from Cisco Systems
December 9, 2005 - Computing Science and Systems division Assistant Professor Constantine Dovrolis has received a $85,000 grant from Cisco Systems Inc in the area of performance-driven edge routing systems. Such systems allow networks to automatically and dynamically switch parts of their traffic load from one link to another, driven by performance, load balancing, or cost considerations. The Cisco Optimized Edge Routing (OER) product is a canonical example of such capabilities.
The main objectives of this research will be to understand the dynamics and stability of such systems, to design and evaluate robust and stable path switching algorithms, and to examine the effects of dynamic edge routing on application-layer performance.
The grant is from January 2006 to December 2006.
