All robot exercises in the CS1 with Robots (CS1301) course include demonstrations. The demonstrations are depicted and evaluated as performances. A non-competitive, collaborative, and social environment is encouraged for learning and designed to motivate students to strive for higher goals.

In January, we asked the students of the College of Computing at Georgia Tech, “what does ‘The New Face of Computing” mean to you?” Eleven teams of student filmmakers responded with digital film shorts they shot and edited in one week, those films were presented to the Georgia Tech community at the Red Carpet Premier and Awards Ceremony on March 2, 2007.

The Summit's executive panel examined the technology and policy challenges associated with managing access to digital information in a secure and usable manner. The following industry leaders participated in the panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Paul Judge, chief technology officer at CipherTrust: Jeff Schmidt, chief executive officer of Authis; Richard W. Sam Phillips, senior vice president of corporate information security for Bank of America; Rob Webb, chief technology officer for Equifax; Richard J. Lipton, professor at the Georgia Tech College of Computing; Dr. Burt Kaliski, vice-president of research at RSA Security and chief scientist of RSA Labs; Chris Meaney, vice president of secure networks, Siemens.

The Honorable Thurbert E. Baker, Georgia Attorney General was the featured keynote speakers, followed by a panel representing industry and academic experts.

The New Face of Computing Symposium

When the College of Computing at Georgia Tech was established in 1990, the name "computing" was chosen to acknowledge the breadth of education and research at the College and reflect the highly collaborative nature of the discipline. We were the first academic program to use this new term to define our goals and mission. On March 2, we hosted a symposium to further define the mission of the college and establish direction in the discipline at large.
