Vazirani Helps Organize Theoretical CS Workshops

December 21, 2006

(December 22, 2006)--College of Computing Professor Vijay Vazirani recently co-organized a theoretical computer science workshop at Princeton University, concentrating on biology, neuroscience, nanotechnology and ecology. Vazirani will host a second workshop series at Caltech in March, focusing on economics, quantum computing, statistical physics, high energy physics and control theory.

“Broadly, the theme is how algorithms, and more generally theoretical computer science can lead to fundamental insights into other sciences,” says Vazirani. Both workshops are funded by the National Science Foundation, and will result in a 25-page report by Vazirani and the organizing committee.
