APIE Classes

The following courses deal explicitly or implicitly with APIEs:
2004: Spring
- CS 8803 Adaptive Personalized Information
Environments: A 3-credit project-driven course that explicitly studies APIEs. During
the course students read research papers, discuss APIE-related issues, and complete a
semester-long project where they build an APIE in teams. Jeff and Charles are working to
turn this into a real course.
2003: Spring
- CS 8802B Adaptive Personalized Information
Environments: The initial offering of the APIE course.
APIEs draw on two communities: human-computer interaction and artificial intelligence. Because
few students have strengths in both areas, most of the people involved in APIE tend to
come from one or the other. Georgia Tech offers a variety of courses offered by both of
those communities. We've listed two below for each. If you'd like to get involved with
APIE research, we recommend specializing in one of the areas by taking both of the
suggested courses, while taking a course from the other area for breadth.
- Human-Computer Interaction
- CS 6750: Introduction to Human-Computer Interaction.
- CS 6456: User Interface Software.
- Artificial Intelligence
- CS 6601: Introduction to Intelligent Systems
- CS 7641: Machine Learning
