Research Agenda

 Year: 2005-06

Mentor: Mario Romero

Scholars: Katie Flinn, Kate Rosier

Research Area: HCI, AI, Art

Proposed Research Tasks:

We will develop and evaluate rendering applications for a perceptive - generative art installation in the Aware Home. The Perception and the generative art modules are operational. The generative art module produces rendering specifications that can have multiple interpretations and rendering styles. The scholars will develop a renderer to interpret the output of the generative module. To develop the renderer the scholars will gain understanding of programming with 2D graphic objects. The scholars will test their renderer and they will evaluate it. The project has an IRB protocol. The job of the scholars at this stage will be to help observe and analyze the qualitative data.

Timeline:

Jan: Develop rederer.

Feb: Test renderer and user studies.

Mar: Analyze data; compile data into report.

Apr: Poster presentation
