IRIS Explorer Seminar

This Seminar is taught either as an introduction to the software, or as a demonstration of how to develop applications with this software.

All online documentation is now available.

  1. Introduction to the IRIS Explorer

Iris Explorer is a dataflow, object-oriented environment where the user can construct his own visualization application in a programmerless, "plug-and-play" fashion. It has some powerful features such as the ability to group a set of modules into one module and the Datascribe for easy transfer of data between different formats. Users can also add their own modules written in Fortran or C. This seminar will give a brief overview of the Explorer. Iris Explorer runs on all SGI machines in the SciVis Lab.

Seminar notes are available on-line and in PostScript.

  2. Developing Applications with the IRIS Explorer

Like AVS, IRIS Explorer is a dataflow, object-oriented environment where the user can construct her own visualization application in a programmerless, "plug-and-play" fashion. It has some powerful features such as the ability to group a set of modules into one module and the Datascribe for easy transfer of data between different formats. This seminar will give a brief overview of the Explorer and then will discuss building your own modules for added functionality in the system. You can build modules in either Fortran or C. Iris Explorer runs on all SGI machines in the SciVis Lab.
