VWorlds client installation

In order to use VWorlds you need a Windows 98/2000 computer with Internet Explorer 5+. No other OS or browsers are currently supported. You will need to go to the VWorlds Download page and download and install the following components:

If you are using Windows 98, download and install the necessary system libraries and DLL's (640KB) You will need to reboot at this point!
Download and install the Virtual Worlds Platform Binaries (1.1MB)
Download and install the Samples and Tools in the same directory as the platform binaries (10.3MB)
If you want to create a custom avatar, download and install the VWorlds Avatar Construction Kit (596KB)

You should now have a Microsoft Virtual Worlds folder under programs in your start menu. Select the Virtual Worlds shortcut at the very end of the list to start the client. The first time you use VWorlds, you will be prompted for an avatar name. Choose an avatar name and continue to the connection page. The server is located at rawhide.cc.gatech.edu/Media3D. Input this address in the input box reading "new world". Once you are connected, click on the Profile link in the dialog box to change your avatar and profile information.

Please be aware that this is a time-consuming procedure! Please allow for enough time to download and install the components before the symposium. You will be able to participate in the symposium from either MediaMOO, from the VWorlds server through our relay-system. This is an experimental system with no guarantees.
