the 4runner fully loaded for the trip
IMG_0091.JPG
we got up around 8, and by 10 we were ready to hit the road
IMG_0090.JPG
Luigi quickly decided who was in charge
IMG_0104.JPG
the first night we stopped just outside of St. Louis, so this is on the beginning of the 2nd day
IMG_0120.JPG
Through MO and KS we saw a whole lot of corn fields...
IMG_0106.JPG
we stopped at lots of places along the side of the road, in the middle of nowhere...
IMG_0105.JPG
one place had this bus for sale, Thomaz was tempted.

Then we finally made it to Denver on day 3. This is Noah outside of Scott's apt in a hip downtown neighborhood.
IMG_0122.JPG
Here we are hanging out at Scott's house, I opened some b-day presents, one of which was a blow dart gun, sweet!

From Denver we caravaned over to the cabin, which is near Laramie WY
IMG_0143.JPG
It's a cozy little cabin, with 2 big rooms and a kitchen.

The bath house dad put in a couple years ago, real toilet and shower, major cabin upgrade!
IMG_0146.JPG
Here's the view from the front porch.
IMG_0144.JPG
Being at the cabin always reminds us of my grandpa Cy, his dad originally built the cabin in the 30s.
IMG_0136.JPG
The old wood burning stove in the kitchen, but lately we mostly use a gas grill out back for cooking.
IMG_0135.JPG
no running water in the cabin, so we do dishes the old fashion way with a pot of hot water.
IMG_0130.JPG
most nights, even in Aug, it gets cool enough that we build a fire.
IMG_0131.JPG
Noah helping build the fire.
IMG_0132.JPG
IMG_0138.JPG
Noah and Andrea, in a fierce monopoly competition!
IMG_0139.JPG
Here's Noah getting ready for our hike to clear the path along the creek.
IMG_0154.JPG
He's ready to clear the brush with his machete.
IMG_0140.JPG
We walked from the cabin...

along the creek...
IMG_0153.JPG
clearing out a nice hiking path,
IMG_0151.JPG
so it's easier to get in there and catch the trout..
IMG_0148.JPG
my dad had to build a new bridge last year, when the old one broke, it was an enginnering feat!
