I am a Ph.D. candidate in Robotics at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I am a member of the Socially Intelligent Machines Lab and my advisor is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Andrea Thomaz. I received my M.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering in 2010 from METU where I was affiliated with the KOVAN Lab, working on the EU FP 7 project ROSSI under Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erol Sahin. I received my B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering with an extracurricular minor in Mechatronics in 2007. I was a recipient of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) scholarship for my M.Sc and the Fulbright Scholarship for my Ph.D. You can find my CV here.
My research interests lie at the intersection of human-robot interaction and machine learning for robotics. I am currently working on developing learning from demonstration algorithms and interaction paradigms that allow non-experts to teach robots new skills. You can find my research statement here.
I am also interested in teaching, mentoring and community outreach. I work with undergraduate and graduate students and participate in outreach programs such as the national robotics week. I think academia is one of the best options for doing research, teaching and outreach. You can find my teaching statement here.
