  CHANDAN DASGUPTA

I am a second year Masters student in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) program at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).

My interest lies in developing educational, developmental and assistive technologies. I like to create examples that help students understand the science behind everyday things.  The students also learn to make scientific explanations from those examples. Currently, I am working with Dr. Janet Kolodner and am responsible for designing and developing the Physics Case Library which augments the existing visualization software. The software helps in teaching basic physics concepts to middle school children while they are designing and building physical artifacts (Learning by DesignTM).

Prior to joining the MS program at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), I was working as a software developer for three years, specializing in IBM iSeries (AS/400) applications.

I am currently serving as the president of the student non-profit organization - Asha for Education (Georgia Tech / Atlanta chapter). In the past, I have volunteered for other non-profit organizations like Child Rights and You and Vidya & Child and also co-founded a Citizens Action Group with them in Noida (India).

Latest update:

Interactivity@GT 2009 concluded on February 16th. Companies like Humana Inc, CDC (Center for Disease Control), and AT&T wireless showed interest in my research. They also offered valuable suggestions on how to commercialize some of the research ideas. Overall it was a great learning experience for me. My poster is available here [1.63 MB].
