In 4475 we will do fun things with photographs and computers, like creating panoramas, high-dynamic range images, 3D reconstructions, and a host of other things that will give students a new appreciation for the unique combination of computing and photographic media. In 4001 we will discuss the implications for society of exactly those new possibilities and other technologies enabled by computing, the internet, and new media.

SVD), are working in robotics, computer vision, graphics, or augmented reality, and want to know more about SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping), structure from motion, multi-view geometry, and real-time visual SLAM, this course is for you !! In contrast to my previous multi-view geometry course, the class will be less projective geometry oriented (although there will be a good deal of that!) . Instead, I will focus more on graphical model representations of the SLAM/SFM problem, as well a real-time and sensing aspects. Throughout the course, each student will implement a real-time visual SLAM system for augmented reality, if not with all bells and whistles, at least with one (bell or whistle). Some code from my lab will be provided to students to build upon. C++ code, that is.
