Counter-intuitive dynamics in the Internet peering ecosystem - William B. Norton

The Internet is interconnected at the edge and at the core using two very different models. At the edge networks connect by purchasing Internet Transit, and at the core we see a hybrid of Internet Transit and Internet Peering. While simple enough to define and portray, the encapsulating ecosystem has evolved around these models revealing several interesting contradictions. This talk highlights a set of the most counterintuitive dynamics observed in the today's Global Internet Peering Ecosystem.
