New adventures in Human-Robot Interaction
The Daily Mail in the UK carries an interesting story about the inventor Le Trung. He has designed a robot as his female companion. The robot understands spoken Japanese and English. The robot generates spoken feedback and has face recognition, ... It still lacks walking as a basic functionality. The robot - Aiko - serves as his companion. It certainly serves as an interesting platform for human robot interaction. The experiment has reached a level where he gives her presents. Not really clear how far the experiment has gone towards being a full companion for the inventor. Is this good science, a hack or misguided social interaction?
