Postdoc Position
Location: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Job Description: We are seeking a motivated researcher to join a DARPA funded project on developing an open-source robot simulation software system for use by the DARPA Robotics Challenge program. The effort will develop validated models of robots (kinematics, dynamics, and sensors) and field environments (three-dimensional surfaces, solids, and material properties). The effort will develop physics-based models of inertia, actuation, contact, and environment dynamics to simulate the robot's motion. The effort will make the simulation software available on an open-source basis, and will host the simulation so that participants in the DARPA Robotics Challenge program can access it freely.
Duration: Successful applicants would be expected to start the position in late 2012 for the duration of two-year assignment.
Minimum Requirements:
-
•Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
-
•Proven track record of successfully executing research projects in areas of physics-based simulation and modeling, optimal control, or sensorimotor control.
-
•Strong analytical and programing skills. Hands-on experience in c++ programming, physics simulation, dynamic system modeling, and numerical methods.
