  • I will teach a new course on data and visual analytics in the spring semester. Materials include hands-on data analysis, modeling, and visualization. The course will be cross listed for both graduate and undergraduate students and will also be offered through distance learning.
  • I am co-organizing two NIPS*2009 workshops, one on learning with orderings and the other on machine learning for visual analytics
  • Two of my PhD Students, Yang Zhao and Paul Kidwell successfully defended on 7/10/09. Congratulations Yang and Paul.
  • I am organizing a weekly seminar/reading group in machine learning. During Spring 2009 it will focus on combinatorial methods in non-parametric estimation.
  • I am serving as a senior program committee member for UAI 2009.
  • I am co-organizing a NIPS*2008 workshop and symposium on algebraic methods in machine learning.
  • I was recently awarded the NSF CAREER award for work on multiresolution representation and visualization of documents.
  • I moved to Georgia Tech on Aug 2008. Prior to that I was on the faculty of Purdue University.
