Personal Information

Despite my last name, I was born and raised in in Jerusalem, Israel. After three years of army service, I moved to Haifa in 1996 to study computer science at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. I continued my computer science education at Carnegie Mellon University where I earned a PhD.

My wife, Katharina Probst, is a senior software engineer at Google's Atlanta office. We have two children, Hannah and Eli. I have a brother who is a former physicist and now works in computing.

My hobbies include squash, reading novels, hiking, and traveling. In squash, I was sponsored by Dunlop and I've won a couple of tournamanets at the 3.5 level. Other activities I've done in the past (and hopefully will do again sometime) are: karate, scuba-diving, and marathon running.
