IIT Madras Research Projects:
- Network Security Simulator for Training and Exercise (NSSTE), which was funded by Integrated Defence Service (IDS) of India.
- Indo-UK Project IU-ATC. Had responsibility to lead the theme on "Cross-Layer Energy Aware Network Management" on the Indian side.
Synergistic Activities:
- Learned doing business in India successfully. Synergized the energy amongst industry, academia, and venture capitalists to establish a world-wide name for NMSWorks. Procured and executed business with large service providers and Indian Defence to bring the company from near-bankruptcy to multi-million dollar sales.
- Founded two companies, ChanneLogics, Inc. and HiFiWi LLC. ChanneLogics was founded in 2000 and was acquired by Scientific Atlanta in 2002 and subsequently by Cisco in 2006. HiFiWi LLC was founded in 2003.
- Assumed responsibility for several failing companies and turned them around introducing new technologies. Brought closures with merger / acquisition.
- Member of the Steering Committee, Wireless Internet Institute, an international organization to advance the deployment of wireless networks around the world.
- Member of the Board of Directors/Advisory Board of Corporations.
- Set up an academic network management program at Georgia Institute of Technology 1996 - 2000 that included two academic courses at graduate and undergraduate levels, two continuing education courses, research on broadband network management, and writing of the first textbook on network management Network Management: Principles and Practice. The textbook has been released as special publications in India and Hong Kong (recommended by Bureau of Higher Education of Republic of China) and is used worldwide.
- Conceived the project, marketed the concept, developed, and implemented a large software system in Bell Operating Companies (BOC). Saved most BOCs millions of dollars due to reduced staffing and increased productivity. Was awarded Bellcore's Best for the achievement.
- Elected as the Technical Director of OSI/NM Forum 1989 - 90; led approximately 100 engineers from competing international corporations such as IBM, DEC, Amdhal, AT&T, Northern Telecom of Canada, British Telecom, Nippon, etc., to develop the first release of OSI network management standards specifications.
