Myungcheol Doo was born in Gunsan but spent most of his life in Seoul, Korea. He is currently a PhD student in School of Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology, working with Professor Ling Liu at Distributed Data Intensive Systems Lab(DiSL). Prior to his arrival at Georgia Tech, he received the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science Education at Korea University in Seoul, Korea (2004) and earned Master's degree in Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology (2007).

He has shown strong leadership in various positions. From 2006 to 2007 he served as the President of Korean Student Association in College of Computing. During the undergraduate at Korea University, he was the first President of the Department of Computer Science Education. Also he founded a web community for alumni of the Young Tigers (check this video clip out) at Korea University.

He also has various working experience including a Summer Research Intern at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, NY (2007), a Software Engineer at Taekwang Systems (2004-2005) and Hanmidata Inc. (1999-2002). Besides software engineer, he also had a teaching experience at Suseo Youth Center (2003).
