Aurora2 Documentation
0.9
Aurora attempts to provide the infrastructure necessary to bridge the gap between traditional distributed computing architectures and parallel discrete event simulation (PDES) systems. This is accomplished by using a Master/Worker style work distribution system where clients can connect and download "work units" for computation and return results constrained by safe processing thresholds if a conservative time management scheme is used. There are no implicit guarantees that a work unit will return given a lease.
Aurora2 is a complete re-engineered design over its predecessor. Aurora2 is written in C++ with scalability and performance as primary goals. Moreover, because Aurora2 is built upon the C++ Portable Components (Poco) library, portability is not greatly sacrificed. This allows the driving goals of the first generation Aurora system (cross-platform interoperable PDES) to co-exist with the vision of the Aurora2 system (high-performance).
