For your final assignment in this class you will be doing an area survey of a CS area that is interesting to you. Perhaps you will choose one of the areas introduced by our guest speakers. Perhaps you will choose an altogether different area.

You should identify an area and look into the specific work currently being done by researchers. You should read several papers describing the current research and identify key figures in the field. You should also try to identify an interesting open problem in the field that might be something you would like to pursue.

Approach? Start with the speakers we had. Go to their websites and look up their papers. Find the references in those papers and look for the authors. Use Google! What are the hard problems? What are the common techniques for solving them?

I'm looking for about five pages of text in this assignment. You should include several references to research papers in your chosen field.
