OFFICE HOURS:

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is a fast-paced self-directed course during which students build and evaluate a robotic system of their own design. You may focus on the hardware or software aspects of robotic systems, or some mix of the two. Projects may include autonomous robots, automated perception systems, or robot teams. Students should have a solid idea of what they want to do before they sign up for the course. A written project proposal will be due in the first two weeks. The class will meet as a group once per week to review everyone's progress and share ideas.

Some resources of the BORG Lab will be available to the students in this class, including Sony Aibo legged robots, and Descartes robots.

Deliverables include a 20 page report, along with a demonstration of a working robotic system.

PREREQUISITE:
Instructor permission is required to register for this class. In order to receive permission you must convince the instructor that you have a good project in mind and that you will be able to accomplish it. Strong programming and/or hardware skills are required.

CS 4630 or CS 7630 is strongly suggested, but not required.

Having said that, graduate and undergraduate hackers of all types are welcome.
